The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating suspected infringements of consumer law in relation to Euro Car Parks Limited’s (ECP) practices at petrol stations and their appeals processes.

The CMA is investigating whetherÌýECP’sÌýpracticesÌýat petrol stations and itsÌýhandling of appealsÌýmay breach consumer protectionÌýlawÌýand, inÌýparticular whether:Ìý
- it’sÌýfair for someÌýdrivers toÌýreceive parkingÌýchargesÌýwhile queuing for, orÌýusing, petrolÌýpumps andÌýother forecourtÌýservices suchÌýas car washesÌý
- ECP’s wider appeals processesÌý–Ìýrelating to bothÌýpetrol stations andÌýcar parksÌý–ÌýbreachÌýconsumerÌýprotection lawÌý
The CMA will now gather and analyse further evidence toÌýdetermineÌýwhether the company has infringed consumer protection law.Ìý
At thisÌýinitialÌýstage, it should not be assumed that ECP has infringed consumer protectionÌýlawÌýand no finding has been made.
