Euro Car Parks: consumer protection enforcement case
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating suspected infringements of consumer law in relation to Euro Car Parks Limited鈥檚 (ECP) practices at petrol stations and their appeals processes.

Case opening
15 July 2026:听The CMA has opened an investigation into suspected infringements of consumer law by听ECP.听
The CMA is鈥痠nvestigating whether听ECP鈥檚听practices听at petrol stations and its听handling of appeals听may breach consumer protection听law听and, in听particular whether:听
- it鈥檚听fair for some听drivers to听receive parking听charges听while queuing for, or听using, petrol听pumps and听other forecourt听services such听as car washes听
- ECP鈥檚 wider appeals processes听鈥撎齬elating to both听petrol stations and听car parks听鈥撎齜reach听consumer听protection law听
The CMA will now gather and analyse further evidence to听determine听whether the company has infringed consumer protection law.听
At this听initial听stage, it should not be assumed that ECP has infringed consumer protection听law听and no finding has been made.
