Tax credits: payment enquiries

Call or write to HMRC if you have had a 'notice to pay' an overpayment of tax credits and cannot pay the full amount.

Call HMRC if you’re finding it hard to repay a tax credits overpayment — you may get more time. You’ll need your tax credits reference number.

If you have already been contacted by HMRC or a debt collection agency acting on their behalf, contact them using the details they’ve given you.
