Freight Council
The Freight Council is a cross-modal freight forum to drive collaboration between government and the freight sector.
The Freight Council is a partnership between government, business and trade associations that provides strategic leadership to:ÌýÌý
- Address the challenges facing the multimodal freight and logistics sector.Ìý
- Optimise its role in supplying Ìýthe government’s Plan for Change missions.
The Freight Council meets quarterly.
The Freight Council will:ÌýÌýÌý
- raise the status of freight in cross-economy challenges being addressed by government and industryÌýÌý
- assist in the development of a refreshed Plan for FreightÌý
- take action to ensure freight plays the right role in addressing the challenges and opportunities including, but not limited to, growing the economy and the transition to net zeroÌý
The council brings together senior industry representatives to advise and support the DfT minister with portfolio responsibility for freight and logistics.
The Freight Council sits at the top of government engagement with the freight sector, but the government will continue to develop and embed cross-Whitehall and industry engagement at all levels when it revisits the freight plan in the autumn with the intention of taking forward a revised plan.
