The UK–Thailand Women in STEM Awards aim to recognise and support outstanding early toÌýmid-careerÌýwomen researchers in science, technology,ÌýengineeringÌýand mathematics (STEM) who haveÌýdemonstratedÌýresearch excellence, leadership, and commitment to strengthening UK–Thailand collaboration.Ìý
The Awards are delivered by the British Embassy Bangkok, in partnership with Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). The programme contributes to strengthening research, innovation and people-to-people links between the UK and Thailand, while promoting women’s leadership and visibility in STEM.Ìý
About the UK-Thailand Women in STEM AwardsÌý
The UK-Thailand Women in STEM Awards aims to fund a short visit to the UK for women researchers from Thailand to advance STEM collaborationÌýbetween Thailand and the UK.Ìý
·¡±ô¾±²µ¾±²ú¾±±ô¾±³Ù²âÌý°ä°ù¾±³Ù±ð°ù¾±²¹Ìý
Applications will be open to women researchers who currently or previously hold Thailand Research Fund scholarships and meet the following criteria:Ìý
- Identify as a woman;Ìý
- Hold Thai nationality;Ìý
- Be an early to mid-career full-time researcher (within 15 years of acquiring their PhD);Ìý
- Work in a STEM-related discipline; andÌý
- Preferably has experience of collaboration with the UK in an academic, research, innovation, policy, or professional context.
- The selected applicant must be able to obtainÌýappropriate visasÌýto enter the UK prior to travelling to the UK otherwise the award will be cancelled.Ìý
- The visit must be completed by 15 February 2027, with all payments made and receipts submitted to the British Embassy Bangkok by 28 February 2027.
Eligibility checks will be applied upon the receipt of the applications. Applications which do not meet the criteria will be rejected during these checks. If you are unsure with your eligibility, please contactÌýtheÌýBritish Embassy Bangkok.Ìý

The call is open to women applicants across all STEM disciplines.Ìý
Funding and Financial ArrangementsÌý
Further details on the funding value and eligible costs will be provided to successful applicants.ÌýÌý
Funding will be administered in line with British Embassy Bangkok regulations. Grants will be paid directly to an individual account, with a maximum funding level ofÌý£3,000ÌýforÌýoneÌýpersonÌýonly.ÌýPayments will be made on a reimbursement basis, and successful applicants willÌýbe requiredÌýtoÌýsubmitÌýoriginal receipts to claim expenses. Reimbursements will be processed via the applicant’s PayPal account.Ìý
The following section details the costs that are covered by the award:ÌýÌý
- RoundtripÌýinternational airfare (economy class) to the UK;Ìý
- UK visa fee (Standard service only);Ìý
- Subsistence for the period of stay in the UK;Ìý
- Travel insurance;Ìý
- Costs for accommodation and other daily expenses such as local transport; andÌý
- Other expensesÌýdirectly relatedÌýto the visit, e.g. fees for using a laboratory or attending a class.Ìý

- Costs beyond the above arrangements will be borne by the award holders themselves.Ìý
- Successful applicants will accept full responsibility for all aspects of the visit and must take out adequate insurance for themselves to cover risks associated with travelling abroad, including unexpected or uncontrollable events. The British Embassy Bangkok will not be liable for the consequences of any such risks or any costs incurred during the visit.Ìý

ApplicationsÌýwill go throughÌýan eligibility check by the British Embassy Bangkok against the given criteria in these guidelines. EligibleÌýapplicationsÌýthen are reviewed by the BritishÌýEmbassy BangkokÌýand theÌýMinistry of Higher Education, Science,ÌýResearchÌýand InnovationÌý(MHESI)Ìýagainst the following criteria:Ìý
Impact in STEMÌý
- The impact of your work on your community, profession,ÌýindustryÌýand country of entry, including how it has contributed to knowledge creation, skills development, technological advancement, sustainability, orÌýevidence basedÌýdecision-making.Ìý
Support for women leadershipÌý
- Actions, initiatives, or mentorship you or your projects have provided to empower women in STEM.Ìý
Collaboration between Thailand and UKÌý
- Demonstrated past collaboration or partnership with the UK, especially projects whichÌýaligns with UK priorities.Ìý
Visit plansÌý
- The extent to which the visit will contribute towards developing aÌýlong-termÌýsustainable research and education partnerships between Thailand and the UK.Ìý
- How the visit adds value to the current PhD research, and the benefits to both parties.Ìý
- The proposed agenda isÌýappropriate forÌýthe funds provided.Ìý
¶Ù²¹³Ù²¹Ìý±Ê°ù´Ç³Ù±ð³¦³Ù¾±´Ç²ÔÌý
The British Embassy Bangkok will use the information provided in the application for processing the application, making any consequential award, for the award payment, monitoring,ÌýmaintenanceÌýand review.Ìý
Information provided by applicants may be shared with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and relevant UK Government partners, where necessary, to support the management of the application, selection, and monitoring processes. AllÌýselectionÌýand monitoring decisions will be made jointly by the British Embassy Bangkok and MHESI.Ìý

- Information relating to successful applications being made publicly available on official websites, reports, and publicity materials relating to the programme.Ìý
- Being contacted in the futureÌýregardingÌýrelated opportunities or programmes administered by the British Embassy Bangkok or its partners.Ìý
