New customers registering for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) digital services can now sign-up using °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login.ÌýÌý

From today (9 February 2026), individual customers without an existing Government Gateway account will create a °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login using just an email address and password, instead of a 10-12 digit ID, to access HMRC services.ÌýÌý

When fully rolled out across government, °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login will be the single way to access all government services online. People will use  for everything from tax to passports to voter registration. With HMRC joining, the number of government services accessible through °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login increases to over 200.

The rollout for HMRC customers will be gradual and closely monitored. HMRC customers with a Government Gateway account do not need to take any action. They will continue to use their current Government Gateway ID and will be contacted when it’s time for them to switch to °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login.ÌýÌý

If an existing HMRC customer has a °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login for a different government service (e.g. manage your state pension, or Companies House services) – they will also need to continue to use their Government Gateway for HMRC for now.

Suzanne Newton, HMRC’s Director General for Change Delivery Group, said:

Whether filing Self Assessment tax returns online, claiming a tax refund on the HMRC app, or checking PAYE information, °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login will make it simpler and quicker for customers to access government digital services, while maintaining the security and reliability they expect.

New HMRC customers can sign up to °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login from today (9 February), visit °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï to find out more.

The introduction of °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï One Login is one of the ways that the government is transforming and joining up digital public services. By proving their identity once, people can reuse it across government services, saving time whenever they interact with government online.ÌýÌý
