National Housing Bank Makes Significant Cornerstone Equity Investment in Starlight UK’s Build-to-Rent Fund II

Starlight Investments and the National Housing Bank unite to accelerate rental housing: the bank’s phased investment of £100 million advances 6,000‑home pipeline through Starlight’s platform.

The National Housing Bank, aÌýHomesÌýEnglandÌýcompany,ÌýhasÌýtoday announced that it hasÌýjoined as a cornerstone investor in Starlight UK’sÌýBuild-to-RentÌý(BTR)ÌýFund II,Ìýsupporting the acceleration of new rental home delivery across England.ÌýTheÌýinvestment reflectsÌýaÌýshared commitment to expandingÌýthe supply ofÌýrental housing and enabling growth in places where new homes areÌýneeded most.ÌýÌý

ThisÌýequityÌýinvestmentÌýisÌýmade through Homes England’s newly established National Housing Bank – theÌýgovernment’s new vehicle for long‑term place‑shaping and housing investment. Operating as part of Homes England, theÌýbank deploys flexible, government‑backedÌýcapitalÌýacross funds,ÌýplatformsÌýand partnerships to unlock housing and regeneration projects, crowding in private capital and accelerating delivery at scale.Ìý

Starlight Investments, headquartered in Toronto, hasÌýoperatedÌýin the UK since 2020 and currently manages a portfolio of 4,000 homes and £1.1 billion in assets under management. The National Housing Bank’s investment, alongside significant commitments from a diverse base of global institutional investors, advances Starlight’s growing UK platform.Ìý

TheÌýBuild-to-Rent Fund II will develop professionally managed rental housing in structurally undersupplied markets, including major regional cities such as Manchester,ÌýLiverpoolÌýand Leeds, as well as key London Commuter Belt locations. The homes will beÌýlocatedÌýclose to employment,ÌýeducationÌýand transport –Ìýsupporting wider economic growth and regeneration in local communities.Ìý
