Sexual predatorās sentence extended after Solicitor General intervenes
A man who raped and sexually abused a teenage girl had his sentence extended after the Solicitor General intervened.
Scott Chapman, of Hereford, had his sentence increased byĀ nearly twoĀ and halfĀ years after the Solicitor General referred his case to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence (ULS) scheme.Ā
The court heard thatĀ ScottĀ ChapmanĀ befriendedĀ aĀ 14-year-oldĀ girlĀ heĀ met online.Ā Ā
ScottĀ Chapman, who wasĀ 20-years-oldĀ atĀ the time, was aware of the girlās ageĀ before sexuallyĀ abusing the victim on several occasions.Ā Ā
InĀ oneĀ incidentĀ in April 2021, Scott ChapmanĀ raped the victimĀ despite protests to stop and when confronted by the teenager,Ā deniedĀ the assault had taken place.Ā Ā
The victim said in a personal statement, that the experience hasĀ hadĀ a significant impact on herĀ life,Ā Ā causingĀ lasting psychological and physical harm.Ā
The Solicitor General Ellie Reeves MP said:Ā
Scott ChapmanĀ is a dangerous sexual predator.Ā HeĀ sexually abusedĀ a young girlĀ onĀ severalĀ occasionsĀ causing untold mental and physical harm.Ā Ā

On 18 September 2025 at Worcester Crown Court, Scott Chapman was sentenced to 4 years and 3 monthsā imprisonment after pleading guilty to rape, sexual activity with a child, and sexual communication with a child.Ā
OnĀ 5 February 2026Ā at the Court of Appeal, Scott Chapmanās sentence was extended toĀ sixĀ yearsĀ and eight months.
