William Blake House Northants enters administration as investigation continues

William Blake House Northants has entered administration, the Charity Commission has confirmed, while steps are taken to secure ongoing care for residents.

On MondayÌý30ÌýMarch,ÌýAdam Stephens of S&W Partners LLP,ÌýtheÌýInterim ManagerÌýatÌýWilliam Blake House Northants, issued an application toÌýtheÌýHigh CourtÌýto place the charity into administration.

Today (1 April 2026), Adam Stephens and Christopher Allen of S&W Partners LLP have been appointed as joint administrators of the charity.Ìý

,Ìýwhich is based in Towcester, Northamptonshire, was set up to provide residential care,ÌýsupportÌýand activities for young adults with learning disabilities.

The Interim Manager was appointed by theÌýCharity CommissionÌýon 16 March,Ìýsoon after itÌýopenedÌýa statutory inquiryÌýto investigateÌýfinancial and governance concernsÌýatÌýthe charity.ÌýFollowing a financial assessment, the Interim ManagerÌýdeterminedÌýthat it was necessary to place the charity into administration.ÌýÌý

While in administration, William Blake House Northants will seek to continue toÌýoperate,Ìýwith the legal process enabling the orderly management of the charity’s financial affairs as much as is reasonably practicable.ÌýÌý

The joint administratorsÌýwill continue to manage the charity through the administration process. TheyÌýwill explore alternative care optionsÌýfor residents,Ìýand will be liaising with affected families, West Northamptonshire Council and the Care Quality Commission.ÌýÌý

TheÌýCharity Commission’s inquiry will continue to examine the charity’sÌýfinancial managementÌýand governance to understand the events and decisions that led to the charity’s serious financial challenges.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý

A report will be published once the inquiry has concluded, setting out the inquiry’s findings and conclusions, as well as any regulatory action taken.Ìý

The administrationÌýprocess provides a breathing space forÌýthe charity to continue its valuable service while financialÌýrestructuring is explored.Ìý

Continuity of care is a priority,ÌýandÌýefforts are being madeÌýby all involvedÌýto minimise disruptionÌýas much as possible.ÌýWe areÌýmonitoringÌýevents closely as part of our ongoing inquiry.
