Professor Chris Hyde

Biography

Prof Chris Hyde qualified in Medicine from the University of London in 1986 and completed specialist training in public health in 1994. He has been a Chair of Public Health and Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Exeter since 2009. He leads the Exeter Test Group.

He has a long association with policy making on tests initially through membership and vice-chairing of NICE’s diagnostics advisory committee from 2009 to 2020. He became a member of the UK National Screening Committee in 2017. His research interests are in test evaluation on diverse topics ranging from pre-eclampsia to diabetes. He is also a methodologist contributing to literature on better reporting of test evaluations through membership of the STARD, QUADAS, PROBAST and PRISMA-DTA groups.

When not working, Chris is a keen outdoor swimmer.
