Jo Lenaghan was Interim Director General, People from November 2025 to February 2026.

Jo has more than 25 years’ experience in the NHS. Her experience has included working in the strategy teams as a strategic health authority Executive Director, Chief Adviser to Sir David Nicholson as Chief Executive of the NHS, followed by working as Director of Strategy and Workforce Planning at Health Education England. 

Jo also worked in Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board for a year, where she worked with local leaders to create a strategy for the workforce, before being appointed as Director of Workforce Strategy and Planning in NHS England. In this role, she worked closely with DHSC to develop the people workstream of the 10 Year Health Plan.
