Joel Griffin

Biography

Joel is a Business Member of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body and is an experienced senior leader in reward, performance management and corporate pensions.Ìý Between 2019 and 2026, Joel held the role of People Director, Performance and Reward for Rolls-Royce Plc.Ìý Among its wider portfolio of engineering activity, Rolls-Royce delivers aero engines for RAF transport, patrol and combat platforms and provides the nuclear propulsion plant for all of the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines.

As a member of the People Leadership Team, Joel had responsibility for Rolls-Royce’s global performance and reward strategy, executive and wider workforce remuneration, including base pay, incentives, pension plans and benefits for over 40,000 global colleagues.

Notable achievements during Joel’s time in role include launching a global employee share plan, several major corporate pension transactions, and leading international change programs to support Rolls-Royce’s ongoing transformation.

After a total of eleven years in senior HR roles at Rolls-Royce, Joel retired in February 2026 to focus on family responsibilities.Ìý

Joel holds a BA (Hons) in Economic Studies from Leeds University.Ìý
