The Rt Hon Norman Baker

Biography

Norman Baker was appointed Minister of State for Crime Prevention in October 2013. He was elected Liberal Democrat MP for Lewes on 1 May 1997.

Education

Norman was educated at The Royal Liberty School in Gidea Park and studied at Royal Holloway College, University of London.

  • Parliamentary Under Secretary for Transport, 2010 to 2013

Career outside politics

He held a number of jobs after leaving university, including Regional Director for Our Price Records and a teacher of English as a foreign language. He was elected as a local councillor in 1987 and in 1991 became the Liberal Democrat Leader of Lewes District Council.
