Paul Richard Simister

Biography

Paul Richard Simister currently serves as His Majesty’s Ambassador to Liberia, based in Monrovia.

He joined the British civil service in 2016 and has worked primarily on the West Africa region. His previous overseas postings include Development Counsellor, Cameroon, and non-resident Deputy Ambassador, Gabon. He has also served as the UK Advisor at the Board of the African Development Bank.

His assignments in the UK have included Deputy Head of West Africa Department, and a number of thematic roles focused primarily on economic development and climate and environment. Paul holds a degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a Masters in Business Administration from INSEAD.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations and consular services.
