Biography
Tony Foot is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Department for Education.
His previous roles include:
- Director General, Strategy Group at the Department for Education
- Director of Strategic Finance at the Department for Education
- Director of Schools Funding and Analysis at the Department for Education
- leading the Academies South division at the Educational and Skills Funding Agency
- senior roles in HM Treasury and the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit
Chief Operating Officer
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a member of the Department for Education’s Board and Leadership Team.
The COO is responsible for a number of functions that support both DfE and the wider education and skills sector, including:
- strategy and delivery
- effective management of the department’s resources
- delivery and improvement of the main corporate functions including HR, finance, commercial, and estates
- communications
- rapid response and emergency planning
- private office
