Biography

Torsten Bell was appointed jointly Parliamentary Secretary in HM Treasury and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for Work and Pensions on 14 January 2025.

He was elected as the MP for Swansea West in July 2024.

  • Supporting the Chancellor on economic and monetary policy, including debt and reserves management policy, National Savings and Investment (NS&I), the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) and Debt Management Office (DMO)  

  • Labour market, skills and welfare reform (working with CST on spending decisions)  

  • Pension tax policy and public sector pensions
