This strategy is built around a shared vision that transport will work well for people: it will be safe,聽reliable, affordable聽and accessible so people can get on in life and make the journeys they need to easily.
Better Connected聽sets聽out 3 principles聽that will underpin聽what we do and how we do it聽in聽transport:
- putting people at the heart of everything we do
- using transport to create better-connected places
- working in partnership with local leaders and experts
It also sets out 8聽priorities,聽informed聽by what people and stakeholders told us matter most to them:
- simplify payments and聽information
- provide dependable and safe journeys
- make travel accessible and聽affordable
- create聽healthier communities
- align transport and development
- champion data and technology
- empower local leaders
- optimise聽decision-making and appraisal
The strategy also聽sets out a monitoring and evaluation plan to ensure聽we meet our commitments and demonstrate聽progress towards better transport.
