UNICORN - Efficient MOF based pilot unit for CO2 filtration
Project lead:Â University of Sheffield (Translational Energy Research Centre - TERC)Ìý
This project investigated the potential of biomass energy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) for wide-spread deployment, using a novel approach of a molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) system for the post combustion capture of the flue gases. A MCFC system generates power (and heat) from a second fuel source, at the same time as it separates the carbon dioxide and removes nitrogen oxides from the flue gases with option of producing hydrogen if required.
