DCMS privacy notice: cyber security breaches survey 2026/2027

This notice sets out how we will process your personal data, and your rights. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).ÌýÌý

Cyber security breaches survey 2026/2027, which surveys businesses and charities about their cyber security, is conducted by Ipsos Ltd. (Ipsos) on behalf of theÌýDepartment forÌýDigital, Culture,ÌýMediaÌýand Sport (DCMS).Ìý

The Department for Digital, Culture,ÌýMediaÌýand Sport (DCMS)ÌýisÌýtheÌýdataÌýcontroller of this survey, whichÌýwas initially conceivedÌýbyÌýthe Department for Science, InnovationÌý& Technology (DSIT)ÌýandÌýthe Home OfficeÌý(HO).

For the purposes of this survey,Ìýthe data processorÌýwill process your name, telephone number, email address, postal address.Ìý

Where personal data has not been obtained from the data subjectÌýÌý

For charities based in Scotland that are contacted for this survey, personal data was obtained byÌýIpsosÌýfrom the Office of the Scottish Charities (OSCR) for the purposes of inviting you toÌýparticipateÌýin this survey.Ìý

All other processing of personal data for this survey will be done by Ipsos. Ipsos will then provideÌýDCMSÌý²¹²Ô»å/´Ç°ù HO with completely anonymisedÌýsurvey responsesÌýfor analysis and quality assurance purposes as well asÌýnotes and reports.Ìý

1(e)Public task: Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller, which entails understanding the cyber attacks and cyber crimes experienced by UK businesses, charities and educational institutions, and their policies, processes and approach to cyber security.Ìý
