Minister Edward Timpson writes to Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council with an accompanying direction. This direction confirms the appointment of a new commissioner to oversee improvement to children鈥檚 social care services and establish a trust.
It follows publication on 5 June 2015 of a , which judged the overall effectiveness of children鈥檚 services in Sandwell to be inadequate, and subsequent monitoring visits by Ofsted in June 2015 and September 2015.
An independent report by the former Commissioner for Children鈥檚 Services in Sandwell recommended removing control of children鈥檚 services for a period of time.
