Details

This is a list of compliance schemes registered under the Producer Obligations (Packaging and Packaging Waste) Regulations 2024.

The regulations are generally known as ‘extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging’ in °Ç¸ç³Ô¹Ï guidance. Find out more about EPR for packaging.

Each compliance scheme has registered with the environmental regulator for the appropriate nation.

The regulators are:

  • Environment Agency (England)
  • Natural Resources Wales
  • Scottish Environment Protection Agency
  • Northern Ireland Environment Agency

What compliance schemes do

Compliance schemes are third parties that help producers meet their obligations under the regulations.

You’ll have to pay a fee to the compliance scheme for their services.

If you join a compliance scheme they will:

  • register you with the environmental regulator
  • report your packaging data
  • meet your recycling obligation for you if you are a large producer

Compliance schemes cannot pay your waste disposal fees.
