To inform you that, following a recent outbreak of听peste des petits ruminants (PPR)听in听Croatia, imports of the following commodities from听Croatia听have been听temporarily suspended:听听
- live sheep and goats (GBHC 630 and 631)听
- ovine and caprine germplasm (GBHC 820, 821 and 822)听
- raw milk and raw milk products derived from ovine and caprine animals (GBHC 410 and 411)听听
- fresh and chilled (untreated) hides and skins of ovine and caprine animals (GBHC 540)听听听
- untreated wool and hair from ovine and caprine animals (GBHC 586)

Croatia reported their first case of PPR on 14 December 2025:听. This outbreak was confirmed on 13 December 2025 in sheep in听Bogdanovi膰i, in the municipality of Prgomet in Split-Dalmatia County.听听
OVS note 2025/77听was issued on 16 December 2025, notifying of the PPR outbreak and requesting that consignments of听live sheep and goats, ovine and caprine germplasm,听raw milk and raw milk products听derived from ovine and caprine animals,听fresh and chilled (untreated) hides and skins of ovine and caprine animals and听untreated wool and hair from ovine and caprine animals,听be听held.听
The UK Office for SPS Trade Assurance amended its country listings on 16 December 2025 to temporarily suspend imports from Croatia of the following commodities:听听
- live sheep and goats (see the听)听
- ovine and caprine germplasm (see the听听补苍诲听听lists)听
- raw milk and raw milk products derived from ovine and caprine animals (see the听)听
The UK Office for SPS Trade Assurance is also coordinating the delivery of safeguard declarations to prohibit the import from Croatia of untreated wool and hair and untreated听hides and skins of sheep and goats. A separate OVS note will be issued when these safeguard declarations have been published.听听听
In the meantime, any consignments from Croatia of untreated wool and hair from ovine and caprine animals and fresh and chilled (untreated) hides and skins of ovine and caprine animals should听continue to听be held.听听听
