To align with the Post Office (Horizon System) Offences Bill we now use the term ‘redress’ rather than ‘compensation’ when referring to payments made through the schemes being administered by Post Office and the Department for Business and Trade.

  1. Corrections made to 'Post Office Horizon financial redress legal data as of 31 March 2026'. As of 31 March 2026, the total value of HSSA redress payments was reported to be £4 million and the total Horizon redress paid was reported to be £1,517 million. A re-evaluation of spend on the HSSA scheme before 31 March 2026 showed that the total value of HSSA redress payments was £7 million, making the total redress paid equal £1,519 million as of 31 March 2026. Each of these figures is rounded to the nearest million. Information added to 'Post Office Horizon redress legal costs data as of 31 March 2026' under heading 1.1 and 2.1 to clarify that DBT expects HSSA legal costs as a share of redress to fall substantially as the scheme progresses.
