A revised statutory direction issued to Reading Borough Council due to poor performance in children's social care services.

Details
This improvement notice was lifted on 8 February 2021 following a review of Reading Borough Council鈥檚 children鈥檚 social care services.
This revised direction requires the council to:
- work with Brighter Futures for Children and other partners to improve services
- continue to work with the DfE-appointed commissioner and officials
This follows:
- a which judged that the council鈥檚 children鈥檚 social care services were inadequate
- a subsequent process of improvement including the development of Brighter Futures for Children
This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued in September 2017.
