For the 2026听to 2027 academic year and听the 2027 to 2028听academic year, the following changes will apply to maximum tuition fees and tuition fee loans for:听
- full-time undergraduate courses听
- full-time accelerated undergraduate courses听
- part-time undergraduate courses听
These changes will apply from 1 August 2026听and from 1 August 2027 respectively.听
The government intends to lay regulations implementing these changes听in early听2026. These regulations will be subject to Parliamentary procedure.听
Tuition fees and loans for听foundation years in classroom-based subjects will remain听frozen at听academic year 2025 to 2026 levels.听Separate information is available on鈥�fees and听loans for听classroom-based听foundation years.听
Courses offered by approved (fee cap) providers听
Maximum tuition fees for undergraduate students starting or continuing full-time and part-time courses at approved (fee cap) providers[footnote 1] 鈥痠n the 2026听to 2027听academic year听and the 2027 to 2028 academic year听will be increased by听2.71%听and听then by听2.68% respectively.听
The maximum tuition fee听in these听academic years听will depend on whether an approved (fee cap) provider has:听
- a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) award from the Office for Students (OfS)听
- an access and participation plan (APP) from the鈥�OfS听
Providers with TEF and an APP听
The maximum tuition fee in the 2026听to 2027听academic year for approved (fee cap) providers with a TEF award and with an APP will increase to:听
- 拢9,790听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢11,750听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢7,335听for part-time courses听
The maximum tuition fee in the 2027听to 2028听academic year for approved (fee cap) providers with a TEF award and with an APP will increase to:听
- 拢10,050听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢12,060听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢7,530听for part-time courses听
Providers without TEF and with an APP听
The maximum tuition fee in the 2026听to 2027听academic year for approved (fee cap) providers without a TEF award and with an APP will increase to:听
- 拢9,525听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢11,430听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢7,140听for part-time courses听
The maximum tuition fee in the 2027听to 2028听academic year for approved (fee cap) providers without a TEF award and with an APP will increase to:听
- 拢9,780听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢11,735听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢7,330听for part-time courses听
Providers with TEF and without an APP听
The maximum tuition fee in the 2026听to 2027听academic year for approved (fee cap) providers with a TEF award and without an APP will increase to:听
- 拢6,525听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢7,830听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢4,890听for part-time courses听
The maximum tuition fee in the 2027听to 2028听academic year for approved (fee cap) providers with a TEF award and without an APP will increase to:听
- 拢6,695听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢8,035听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢5,020听for part-time courses听
Providers without TEF or an APP听
The maximum tuition fee in the 2026听to 2027听academic year for approved (fee cap) providers without a TEF award and without an APP will increase to:听
- 拢6,350听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢7,620听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢4,760听for part-time courses听
The maximum tuition fee in the 2027 to 2028 academic year for approved (fee cap) providers without a TEF award and without an APP will increase to:听
- 拢6,520听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢7,820听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢4,885听for part-time courses听
Arrangements for different study patterns听
Students undertaking the final year of a standard full-time course completed in less than 15 weeks will be charged up to 50% of the maximum tuition fee.听
Students undertaking a work placement year for a sandwich course will be charged up to 20% of the听maximum听standard full-time or full-time accelerated tuition fee.听
Students undertaking an overseas year of study or Turing year will be charged up to 15% of the听maximum听standard full-time or full-time accelerated tuition fee.听
Eligible students undertaking courses at approved (fee cap) providers[footnote 1] 鈥痺ill qualify for tuition fee loans to meet the full cost of their tuition in听both听the 2026听to 2027听academic year听and the 2027 to 2028 academic year.听
Courses offered by approved providers听
Full-time and part-time courses offered by approved providers[footnote 2]鈥痑re not subject to maximum tuition fee limits.听
Undergraduate students starting or continuing full-time and part-time courses at approved providers in the 2026听to 2027听academic year听and the 2027 to 2028 academic year听will qualify for tuition fee loans towards their tuition.听
Maximum tuition fee loans听in the 2026听to 2027听academic year听and the 2027 to 2028 academic year听will be increased by听2.71%听and听then by听2.68% respectively.听
Providers with TEF听
The maximum tuition fee loan in the 2026听to 2027听academic year for courses at approved providers[footnote 2] with a TEF will be:听
- 拢6,525听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢7,830听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢4,890听for part-time courses听
The maximum tuition fee loan in the 2027听to 2028听academic year for courses at approved providers[footnote 2] 鈥痺ith a TEF will be:听
- 拢6,695听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢8,035听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢5,020听for part-time courses听
Providers without TEF听
The maximum tuition fee loan in the 2026听to 2027听academic year for courses at approved providers without a TEF will be:听
- 拢6,350听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢7,620听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢4,760听for part-time courses听
The maximum tuition fee loan in the 2027听to 2028听academic year for courses at approved providers without a TEF will be:听
- 拢6,520听for standard full-time courses听
- 拢7,820听for full-time accelerated courses听
- 拢4,885听for part-time courses听
Arrangements for different study patterns听
