Details

This chapter and its annexes specify the criteria a good or product must meet, as well as the compliance documents needed, to benefit from the preferential tariffs we have agreed in this deal.

To qualify for reduced tariffs, the rules of origin specify that a product must either be wholly obtained or significantly transformed through processing in either the UK or India.

This ensures that only genuinely British or Indian goods can access preferential tariffs thereby preventing fraudulent activities such as circumvention or illegitimate competition. This chapter also provides robust mechanisms for compliance to be checked.
