UK fish quota allocations are published as part of an annual process used to manage defined quota species. 聽Initial allocations are normally published at the end of the first quarter of each year, once the UK鈥檚 total quota availability has been confirmed.

UK allocations are based on the annual totals set out in the Secretary of State鈥檚 Determination for UK fishing opportunities. The Secretary of State is responsible for making this determination each year, which reflects the outcome of the annual cycle of fisheries quota negotiations and sets the UK鈥憀evel quota for each stock.

Quota is then apportioned and allocated in line with the Quota Management Rules, which set out how annual quota is distributed and managed.

To support effective management by industry and transparency around quota use, quota uptake spreadsheets are published alongside allocations. These show the opening quota position for the year and are updated weekly to report uptake against quota. Published data and statistics on quota use are available on the quota use statistics 听.
