Apply to become authorised to import live fish and shellfish in England and Wales

Use this form to apply to the Fish Health Inspectorate to be authorised to import live fish or shellfish, as required under The Aquatic Animal Health (England and Wales) Regulations 2009.

This covers imports for:

  • aquaculture at anauthorisedfarm
  • furtherprocessing for human consumption
  • your personal collection
  • ornamental trade (susceptibleandnon-susceptiblespecies)
  • relayingand depuration
  • scientific research

Before starting thisapplicationyou shouldknow:

  • whetherthe fish you want to import are non-susceptible orsusceptible species,if your reason for importing is ornamental trade
  • yourauthorisationnumber - if you want to renew an existingauthorisation
  • thesitedetails, including the national grid reference
  • the type and number of holding facilitiesyou’lluse, ifany
  • the suppliers’ details andfish species – or just the supply country fortheimport of any non-susceptiblespecies forornamental trade

A site inspection may be needed for imports of:
