Bereaved family groups

Community groups were formed to campaign, promote remembrance and offer support for those who lost loved ones. Many groups were consulted as part of the UK Commission for COVID-19 Commemoration and as part of the .

Community groups are independent of government and some are private Facebook groups managed by members of the public.


Friends of the Wall is a team of bereaved volunteers who have cared for and maintained the National Covid Memorial Wall since the summer of 2021. If you have lost a loved one to COVID-19, you can add a dedication to them on their memorial page.


An umbrella campaign group of bereaved people across the UK. There are a number of groups representing families in different areas across the UK.


Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice, Cymru represents all those bereaved by COVID-19 in Wales.


Scottish Covid Bereaved (formerly Covid-19 Families for Justice, Scotland) is a justice group.


A national network of support groups across the UK for those bereaved by COVID-19 and experiencing other grief during the pandemic.


Covid-19 Families Scotland is a support group for those in Scotland bereaved by COVID-19 and experiencing other grief during the pandemic.


An online community that invites people to remember loved ones together by sharing yellow hearts in their windows.


Yellow Hearts Wales was started by a family who built a personal memorial from stones on a Welsh mountainside. The group then asked for the names of others who died in the pandemic, which were written on flagstones and added to the Yellow Heart Memorial.


Memory Stones of Love create and display painted stones for Northern Irish families to remember their loved ones who died during the pandemic.
