罢丑别听invitation letter聽sent to councils聽in聽Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool聽set out their milestones for reorganisation.

They were invited to聽submit聽final proposals聽for unitary local government聽by聽28 November聽2025.

鈥婣听 was made to Parliament. This set out that a聽statutory聽consultation on聽the proposals received for聽local government reorganisation in聽Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool 飞补蝉听濒补耻苍肠丑别诲.

On the same day, the Minister of State for Local Government and Homelessness, Alison McGovern MP, wrote to the leaders of councils in聽Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool to thank them for their proposals聽and to inform them of the consultation.

16 July 2026

鈥婣听聽was made to Parliament, setting out the Secretary of State鈥檚 decision to implement the proposal for 4 unitary councils to be established in Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool.

鈥婼econdary legislation, which will be subject to Parliamentary approval, will now be taken forward to abolish existing councils, establish new councils and make transitional arrangements.聽
