They were invited to聽submit聽final proposals聽for unitary local government聽by聽28 November聽2025.

鈥婣听 was made to Parliament. This set out that a聽statutory聽consultation on聽the proposals received for聽local government reorganisation in聽Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent 飞补蝉听濒补耻苍肠丑别诲.
On the same day, the Minister of State for Local Government and Homelessness, Alison McGovern MP, wrote to the leaders of councils in聽Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent聽to thank them for their proposals聽and to inform them of the consultation.

鈥婣听聽was made to Parliament, setting out the Secretary of State鈥檚 decision to implement the proposal for 2 unitary councils to be established in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
鈥婼econdary legislation, which will be subject to Parliamentary approval, will now be taken forward to abolish existing councils, establish new councils and make transitional arrangements.聽
