We received 50 responses to the consultation.

Most respondents considered that the:

  • information provided in the RollsRoyce Small Modular Reactor (SMR) justification application was sufficient to support an assessment
  • proposed practice should be regarded as a new class or type of practice
  • definition proposed in the application was the most appropriate definition for that class or type of practice

In her role as Justifying Authority, the Secretary of State, Emma Reynolds, decided that the RollsRoyce SMR, designed by RollsRoyce SMR Limited, should be justified under . This decision takes into account the consultation responses, analysis of the application, and engagement with the statutory consultees.
