Packaging data: check reporting periods and submission deadlines
Find out when large and small organisations affected by Extended producer responsibility (EPR) packaging must collect and submit packaging data.
Reporting periods (when you must collect packaging data) and deadlines for听submitting听your data depend on:听
- whether听you鈥檙e听considered a large or small organisation
- the year听you鈥檙e听reporting on听
Large and small organisations are also referred to as large and small producers under Extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging regulations. Check if you鈥檙e a large or small producer.听
You must collect and听submit听packaging data:听
- every 6 months, if听you鈥檙e听a large producer听
- yearly, as a small producer听
You must also register by 迟丑别听registration deadline听every year.听
You should听submit听your data through 迟丑别听鈥榬eport packaging data鈥� service.听
The听next听deadline for听submitting听data听is 1 April 2026听for large听and small听producers.听
If you miss a submission deadline, you should contact your environmental regulator. This is:听

Large producers: when to collect and听submit听data听
You must collect and听submit听your packaging data on a 6-monthly basis.听Deadlines for reporting the data听you鈥檝e听collected are:听
- 1 April -听for data covering听1 July to 31 December of the previous year听
- 1 October -听for data covering听1 January to 30 June of the same year听
If applicable, you must also collect and report data about the following on a yearly basis, by 1 April:听
- plastic or paper bags you supply in England听
- nation听of sale听听听

2024 data听
The deadline for听submitting听data collected from 1听January听to 30 June 2024 was 1 October 2024.听听
The deadline for听submitting听data collected from 1 July to 31 December 2024 was 1 April 2025.听Contact your environmental regulator if you missed the submission deadline.听
The data you collect and听submit听for 2024 will be used to calculate听your听recycling obligations and any waste management fees you must pay in 2025.听听
2025 data听
The deadline for听submitting听data collected from 1 January to 30 June 2025 was 1 October 2025.听
You will need to听submit听data you collect for the second half of 2025 (1 July to 31 December) by 1 April 2026.听
Small producers: when to collect and听submit听data听
You must collect and听submit听your packaging data yearly, by 1听April.听
Check听data you must collect and report听as a small producer.听
2024听data听
The听deadline for听submitting听your 2024 packaging data was 1 April 2025.听Contact your environmental regulator if you missed the submission deadline.听
When听creating your data file,听you鈥檒l听need to select the reporting period from January to December 2024, even if you did not start to collect data until April.听
You can听submit听all the data听you鈥檝e听collected under this reporting period.听
2025 data听
The deadline for听submitting听data听you鈥檙e听collecting for 2025 (1 January to 31 December) is 1 April 2026.听

Registration deadlines听
Large producers must register听each听year by听1听October.听This is to ensure you pay the correct fees and meet your recycling obligations听for听packaging you supplied听for the previous year (1 January to 31 December).听
Small producers must register听each听year by听1听April听to ensure you pay the correct fees for packaging you supplied听for the previous year (1 January and 31 December).
